From Behind the Chair
With over 10 years behind the chair, I’ve tested hundreds of products on different hair textures, densities, and concerns. These are the products I genuinely recommend to my clients — and the ones I personally use for shine, hydration, softness, and long-lasting results.
Below are my current favorites.
1.Kitsch Detangling Brush
A good detangling brush makes all the difference. This one glides through curls and thick hair without unnecessary pulling or breakage. I recommend using it on damp hair with conditioner or a leave-in for best results. I even use this brush on my toddler because it’s gentle and soft enough for her delicate hair — no tears, no harsh tugging.
2.Kitsch Hair Perfume (Amber Shores)
If you love your hair smelling fresh all day without being overpowering, this is it. The scent is warm, soft, and luxe — perfect for refreshing curls, blowouts, or braids between washes. I especially love using this on clients after styling for that final polished touch. I personally get tons of compliments whenever I wear it, and clients always ask what that amazing scent is. You can use it right after styling, before heading out for the day, after the gym, or anytime your hair needs a quick refresh without adding heaviness.
3. Salerm Wheat Germ Mask
This is a deep repair mask I’ve used for years. It restores softness and shine, especially for dry or chemically treated hair. I’ve used this on countless clients, and the hair feels instantly soft and manageable after rinsing. For best results, I recommend leaving it on for at least 20 minutes to really allow the nutrients to penetrate.
4. Love Your Curls Shampoo, Conditioner & Leave-In Trio
For my curly clients, moisture and definition are everything. This trio helps cleanse without stripping, soften the curls, and enhance natural texture. The leave-in is lightweight but deeply hydrating. A little goes a long way — especially for my curly girls — so you don’t need to overload the hair to see definition and shine.
5. Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray
If frizz is your enemy, this is your weapon. I use this before blowouts for that glassy, humidity-resistant finish. What I love most is that it doesn’t leave the hair oily or heavy — even on finer textures. It creates an almost invisible protective coat around the hair, sealing the cuticle and locking in shine. The result is smooth, healthy-looking hair that stays sleek longer, even in humidity.

6. Oxygenación Treatment from Una
This treatment helps refresh and rebalance the scalp. I love recommending it for clients dealing with buildup, dullness, or scalp concerns. You can even use it in between braids to keep the scalp feeling clean and stimulated. I’ve personally seen real results with consistent use — and while results may vary, within about three weeks you should start noticing a visible difference. Healthy hair truly starts at the scalp.
7. OUAI Thick Hair Treatment Masque
For thick, coarse, or dry hair types, this mask delivers intense hydration. It’s perfect for thicker hair because it deeply moisturizes without flattening the volume. The hair feels soft, nourished, and manageable — but still full of body. If you struggle with dryness in dense hair, this is a beautiful treatment option.
8. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask
A classic for a reason. Not only does it smell amazing, but it deeply nourishes and leaves the hair feeling sealed, smooth, and incredibly soft. I always recommend leaving it on for at least 20 minutes before rinsing so the moisture can fully absorb into the strands. It’s especially great before a big event or after heat styling when the hair needs extra love.
As a hairstylist, I don’t recommend products lightly. These are items I’ve tested behind the chair, used on real clients, and incorporated into my own routine. Whether you’re looking for hydration, shine, scalp care, or frizz control, investing in the right products truly makes a difference. Healthy hair isn’t just about styling — it’s about maintenance, consistency, and using products that actually support your hair’s needs.
